The History

The first Women's Rugby Club in Des Moines was established in the Spring of 1998 by Threase Harms. After playing several seasons at UNI Threase moved  to Des Moines and began recruiting for the first ever Des Moines Women's Rugby Club.  With the help of ex-college players and determined newbies a Club was formed.

While we continue to build, the Des Moines Women's Rugby team has established a tradition for diversity and survival. Currently, we boast a medley of veteran and rookie players from all walks of life. Our Pitches are located in West Des Moines on 39th and E.P. True. Beautifully groomed and maintained, our Pitches are among the very best in the midwest. The clubhouse is heated for those early spring/late fall matches and includes an entertainment room as well as a deck overlooking Bartlett field. The Des Moines Men's side recently celebrated its 30th year! In addition to the Men and Women, a High School side has been founded. While we continue to thrive, the Des Moines Rugby Club welcomes new players--no experience necessary! Come see what all the "RUCKus" is about!
